New album download at Vinylorphanage.com:
Up this week we present some fun on the 'High C's' (get it?) with cruise ship entertainer extraordinaire Phyllis Arick. Looks like Ms. Arick was a staple of the now defunct Commodore Cruise Line, singing on their ship the Bolero in the early seventies. Backed by an 'orchestra' of piano, trumpet, and drum set, Ms. Arick belts out your standard lounge fare for an appreciative audience of cruisers. Her voice sounds like it would be more at home on the stage rather than a club and she has a seriously wide vibrato that at times threatens to send the listener into epileptic fits, but she has a good rapport with the audience and seems to genuinely enjoy what she does. The back cover even has a designated square for Ms. Arick's autograph, so that you may forever remember your time on the fabulous M/S Bolero. Have fun listening and as always, Enjoy!

Swedish jazz singer Monica Zetterlund, who recorded with the legendary Bill Evans among others, has died in a fire that ravaged her Stockholm apartment, police said.
Zetterlund, 67, was best known for her 1964 recording of "Waltz for Debbie" with the Bill Evans trio.
In addition to several solo records, she also sang with jazz greats Arne Domnerus, Zoot Sims, Thad Jones and Mel Lewis, and more recently toured with fellow Swedish jazz singer Lisa Ekdahl.

We don't normally do this, and we promise we won't do this again for a long time, but....
Due to the ever increasing amount of visitors and the traffic this generates our bills get higher and higher too. After the most recent bill for the extra bandwith we used in the past 12 months (especially after our nomination for a Webby Award, spring 2004) we decided we could use just a tiny little bit of help....
So we have created a donations page at Weirdomusic.com: http://www.weirdomusic.com/donate.htm
Please consider making a little donation through PayPal to help us pay for bandwith and traffic. There are no obligations of course, but it would be great if we would hear from you. We appreciate your continued support and we'll do our best to keep improving and expanding the site.
